Warren Flood, PhD
Co-CEO & co-Founder
Warren was appointed CEO of Bio-Me on 01 March 2022. Before that, he was the COO of the company since 2018.
Warren is a microbiologist with a key interest in the design and development of improved molecular techniques for microbiome analysis. He holds a PhD in microbiology and a MSc in immunology and immunogenetics from the University of Manchester.
After meeting Morten Isaksen, he left behind a successful UK life sciences career to come to Norway and build up a company with the focus of enabling rapid, high precision microbiome analysis for clinical applications. Warren is passionate about supporting microbiome therapeutics development and is chairman of the Pharmabiotics Research Institute OMICs task group.
Arne Materna, PhD
Co-CEO & Board Member
Arne joined Bio-Me as Chief Technology Officer of Bio-Me in September 2023, and was appointed Co-CEO on July 1st 2024. Arne brings a wealth of experience in the development and commercialization of leading-edge bioinformatics platforms and products with a particular focus on microbiology and next-generation sequencing. He joined Ares Genetics as Managing Director and CEO from CosmosID Inc., where he served as Vice President of Products. Before CosmosID, he held leadership positions and senior roles at QIAGEN, CLC Bio (acquired by QIAGEN in 2013) and Pacific Biosciences. He obtained his doctorate in life science at the University of Konstanz, Germany, and gained experience in microbial genetics and microbiome research as a post-doctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), prior to joining the industry in 2010. Jon Alm Eriksen, PhD
Head of Software & Data Science
Jon is a physicist with an affection for mathematical modeling, programming, and computation. He received his PhD in physics from the University of Oslo in 2015. Following a postdoc in biostatistics at the Norwegian Centre for Mental Disorders Research (NORMENT), he transitioned to the industry where he has held several roles dedicated to developing machine learning models and other data-driven applications in Arundo Analytics and more recently in Novelda.
Runar Vige, MSc MBA
Chief Business Officer
Runar holds an MSc in physical activity and health/exercise physiology from the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences and earned an MBA from BI Norwegian Business School. He brings ~20 years of experience from the life science industry in companies such as Pfizer, Pronova BioPharma, and BASF.
Runar has an extensive product development background, including clinical development of pharmaceuticals and Medical Food products, as well as claims substantiation of nutritional ingredients. More lately as a business developer and commercial manager, developing and managing partnerships for distribution of Medical Food products in Europe and the US.
Anne-Grethe Reichelt, PhD
Head of Sales & Marketing
Anne-Grethe earned her PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Bergen and has an MSc from the University of Tromsø. She brings over 10+ years of Sales and Business Development experience from the Life Science industry and has broad customer and product knowledge, a high customer focus, and is solution-oriented.
Anne-Grethe has been working with Bio-Me from the beginning through her previous position at Thermo Fisher Scientific and is now thrilled to be part of the team. She also holds a position as President-elect at ICF Norway. Anne-Grethe is a strong advocate for thinking outside of the box and working with the microbiome in several areas.
Divya Shah, PhD
Product Development Manager
Divya attained a PhD in Pharmacognosy and an MSc in Biomedical Science from the University of East London. She also holds an MSc in Biotechnology and Molecular Biology from the University of Hull. She brings over 13 years of experience from the healthcare sector and the National Health Services in the UK. Divya has extensive experience in product and method development for molecular microbiology and virology applications. She also holds proficiency in conducting validations and verifications as per ISO requirements.
Ana Finzel, PhD
Senior Scientific Manager
Ana earned her PhD from the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine/Free University in Berlin. She spent over three years working in the precision oncology field and acquired a broad international experience. She became aware of the difficulties in addressing which cancer patients could benefit from (or be resistant to) immunotherapy and started looking for answers beyond the current biomarkers. She got fascinated about the huge potential of the microbiome – long overlooked in cancer research – and joined Bio-Me in December 2020 as Senior Scientist.
Sarah Karttunen, PhD
Commercial Manager
Sarah earned her PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Adelaide (Australia), focusing on cellular sensing of hypoxia. Her hypoxia research has involved numerous international collaborations, and she has held fulfilling post-doctoral positions at the University of Adelaide (Australia) and Karolinska Institutet (Sweden). Customer service is a key passion, and Sarah brings 10+ years of experience with her, including over 2 years with Thermo Fisher Scientific (Nordics and UK), during which time she was first introduced to Bio-Me. This meeting catalyzed her curiosity in the potential to optimize human health through understanding and manipulating the microbiome. Sarah is very excited to be part of the team at Bio-Me.
Satyasree Kuraganti, MSc
Lab Management
Satya earned a master’s degree in biotechnology from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, and a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Kakatiya University, Adilabad, India.
Satya has excellent knowledge of biotechnological laboratory equipment, and experience in cell biology, bioinformation, immunology, molecular biology, and microbiology, with a special focus on genetics, RNA/DNA technologies, and bioprocess-technologies.
Maria Gjerstad Maseng, MSc
Industrial PhD Candidate
Maria graduated as a clinical dietician from the University of Oslo in June 2019. She became a part of Bio-Me while working on her master thesis at the Department of Biochemistry, Institute of Basal Medicine at the University of Oslo. During her thesis, she studied intracellular responses in immunocompromised patients.
Currently, Maria is an industrial PhD candidate for Bio-Me, exploring microbiome profiles in treatment-naïve IBD patients through the IBSEN III trial.
Javier Pardo Fernández, BSc
Junior Full-Stack Developer
Javier graduated in 2019 from California State University Chico with a major in computer engineering, and minors in physics and computer science. In 2021, he graduated from Berkeley Online Data Science Boot Camp.
Javier is passionate about data analysis, data science, and software engineering. He is especially interested in programming languages like Python, C++, C and Javascript/HTML/CSS, and in topics such as full-stack development, ETL, databases, and open-source.
Maria Valente Oksvold, BSc
Office Manager
Maria graduated from the University of Oslo with a BSc in Bioscience in 2023, with a focus on microbiology and cell biology. She brings over many years of experience in business administration, management, and content creation thanks to supervising a successful coastal hotel in Tanzania and later being the manager at a prominent café in Oslo.
More recently, Maria worked in the communication and social media department at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics while finishing her bachelor’s degree.

Carl Christian was the founding President and CEO of Dynal Biotech AS, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. Carl Christian is a Senior Advisor of NeoMed Management, a European-based venture capital fund focused on international healthcare and medical technology and Chairman of Sonitor Technologies AS and board member of Respinor AS. Carl Christian trained at the Swedish Institute of Management, the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a PhD in clinical biochemistry from the University of Oslo.
Hilde Furberg, MSc

Broad senior leadership experience with over 35 years in Pharma/Biotech was lateste the Senior Vice President and Head of Rare Diseases EU in Sanofi Genzyme. Served as a non-executive director of Combigen, BerGenBio, Probi, Pronova, Clavis, Algeta and chair of the board for Blueprint Genetics. She is currently a board member of Calliditas, PCI Biotech, OncoZenge, Herantis, and Sedana Medical.
Sverre Munck, PhD
Board member
Sverre is a seasoned internet executive with 20 years of experience as EVP at Schibsted Media Group. Responsibilities include being Group CFO, managing Schibsted’s free newspapers under the 20minutes brand, starting up online classified sites such as compraventa.com and leboncoin.fr.
Since 2011, he has also been responsible for group strategy. He has substantial experience in strategy and business development, inter-nationalization/scaling and management coaching.

During the last decade, Morten’s passion is to optimize gut microbiome analysis while contributing to understanding the challenges and solutions for optimizing microbiome-based Precision Medicine. Morten is also a member of Bio-Me’s Board of Directors.

As an international executive, Dr. Heiner Dreismann brings more than 35 years of experience from biotech and healthcare companies, with a proven track record in general management with P&L responsibilities and management of corporate functions such as R&D, manufacturing, marketing, and business development. During his 25+ years in Roche’s diagnostic division, he also managed licensing and M&A opportunities. He is the former President and CEO of Roche Molecular Systems, a world leader in Molecular Diagnostics. Heiner has served on the boards of several public and private companies. He holds a PhD in Microbiology/Molecular Biology from Westphalian Wilhelms University, Münster.
Charles Stabell, PhD

Dr. Charles Stabell has a long track record in academia and as an entrepreneur, and is now an active high-tech investor and advisor. He was one of the co-founders and the CEO of GeoKnowledge, a firm that developed the de facto global standard tools for stochastic prospect assessment modeling of exploration opportunities in the petroleum industry. The company was acquired by Schlumberger in 2012. Charles was for 25 years in teaching and research, most recently as a professor in business strategy at the Norwegian School of Management (BI); earlier amongst other as an assistant professor in computers and information systems at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. Charles is an electronics engineer from ENSERG (Grenoble, France), has an MBA from McGill University (Montreal), and a PhD from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
